Bring back the Yes or No (YORN) slider

In Maximo Manage 8.11 and 9.0, Yes/No (YORN) fields in the application UI are presented as sliders, whereas in Maximo Manage 9.1 they have reverted to checkboxes. While some clients prefer consistency with the legacy Maximo 7.6 interface, others favor the more modern UI experience introduced in later versions.

According to the IBM support article (https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/did-toggle-component-change-checkbox-within-manage-91?view=full), the toggle component was removed in 9.1.

It would be beneficial to reintroduce this functionality and make it configurable via a system property, similar to other UI-related properties such as:

  • mxe.webclient.paginationButtonsPlacement = 0,1,2

  • mxe.webclient.tableButtonPlacement = 0,1,2

This approach would allow clients to choose their preferred user experience while maintaining flexibility across implementations.

    Hi,

    Thank you for taking the time to provide your ideas to IBM. Unfortunately, after evaluating this idea, we don’t believe it aligns with our product strategy and roadmap. Therefore, we will not be considering it for inclusion in our product at this time. Thank you again for your feedback.

    Thank you for taking the time to provide your ideas to IBM. We truly value our relationship with you and appreciate your willingness to share details about your experience, your recommendations, and ideas.

    The toggle component is a generic control, and in most scenarios in Manage, it requires a save to be performed elsewhere on the page to activate the choice that is made. This pattern is defined here, and Maximo is adhering to it as of 9.1.0. This guidance is new, and unfortunately this caused the Manage team to alter their designs in a relatively short time-span to adhere with the rest of the applications in the suite and within IBM. It also results in a reversion to the checkbox style that was present in Maximo 7.6.3 and earlier. The style is visual only and has no impact on functionality. We apologize for any impact regarding this change and appreciate that it is nuanced, but we believe that both checkboxes and toggles are common enough patterns in consumer UIs that users will not be confused as long as they are consistently used, which was the goal of the 9.1 change.
