RELATED IDEAS

Defaults on Sub-Tables should work through relationships

Today, I can give a sub-table a default value if I hardcode the value or if I use the result of a relationship.  But that doesn’t work for sub-tables.  

I can display the result of the relationship just fine but it won’t write /save to the field on new record.  

For example, I am trying to set the Compliance on the JobTask table based on values on the JobPlan and the current user.  I can hard code it to certain things directly but if I have that go through a relationship it doesn’t work.

    Hi,

    Thank you for taking the time to provide your ideas to IBM. Unfortunately, after evaluating this idea, we don’t believe it aligns with our product strategy and roadmap. Therefore, we will not be considering it for inclusion in our product at this time. Thank you again for your feedback.

    Thank you for the Idea. Out of box Maximo does not support setting default values on sub‑tables using relationship‑based expressions through out‑of‑the‑box functionalty. Although relationship values may be displayed in the UI, they are not persisted when a new child record is created. To implement this requirement, a potential supported approach such as an Automation Script on the child object (e.g., JobTask) must be used. This behavior has been identified as a product working as design. The product team may review this in lab to consider future enhancement request.
