Enhancements to AppPoint License Monitoring and Shared SLS Visibility in Maximo Application Suite

Enhance AppPoint license management by introducing proactive threshold-based notifications and improved visibility into license consumption across environments when using a shared SLS configuration.

Business Problem / Use Case

Organizations using MAS with AppPoint licensing lack sufficient visibility and proactive controls to manage license consumption effectively.

  1. No proactive alerting on license usage thresholds

    • Administrators must manually monitor AppPoint consumption.

    • This creates risk of:

      • Unexpected license exhaustion

      • Service disruption or user access issues

      • Reactive rather than proactive license management

  2. Limited visibility in shared SLS environments

    • When multiple environments (e.g., DEV, TEST, PROD) share a single SLS instance:

      • There is no clear breakdown of AppPoint consumption by environment.

      • Difficult to attribute usage or enforce governance.

      • Complicates capacity planning and cost allocation.

    1) As part of our ongoing redesign of the License Consumption Dashboard, this capability has already been incorporated as a requirement for MAS 9.2. In this release, MAS administrators will be proactively notified when license overages occur or when limits are breached via alert banner displayed at the top of the dashboard. Additionally, a warning icon will indicate when you are running close to entitlement.

    2) MAS 9.2 will also introduce the ability to view usage on a per-instance basis for instances connected to the same SLS. Depending on your MAS environment configuration, this will provide greater visibility into how license consumption is distributed across your instances.
