Location / Asset drilldown display option

When Advanced Drilldown is enabled, child assets are currently displayed beneath their parent asset in the drilldown hierarchy, regardless of the child's assigned location.

This request is to introduce a configurable option that allows child assets to be displayed under their own assigned location instead of being grouped under the parent asset.

Current Behaviour

  • Parent Asset (Location A)

    • Child Asset (Location B)

The child asset is displayed beneath the parent asset, even though it belongs to a different location.

Requested Behaviour
Provide an option that, when enabled, displays assets according to their own location assignment:

  • Location A

    • Parent Asset

  • Location B

    • Child Asset

This enhancement would give users greater flexibility in how asset hierarchies are presented and allow drilldown views to better reflect the actual location structure of assets.

    Thanks for sharing the idea. I was going through the details section of this Epic abd I have 2 cents for the 'Current Behaviour' of the Asset hierarchy display.

    If we take example of 'Water station' or 'Wind Mill', hierarchical assests then, the Locations get considered are more of 'Functional Location' rather individual locations in terms of 'X,Y' coordinates. The maintenance of hierarchical Assets will beocme easy if we can look into the entire Asset hierarchy including each component of it rather looking into just the the individual IDed assets components(either Child asset or Spare Parts) of the hierarchy. So I think, display of the hierarchical Asset with the Location information (at each component level) may not apply to each use cases. I am brainstorming with the designer to bring an innovative modern display. Will share with you once it's ready to share.
