Ability to create data source for Operational Dashboard Table Card in MaximoUI

Currently, the Table Card in the Operational Dashboard requires its data source to be configured in the OPDASHBOARD common XML (DataSource) through the application configuration.

This approach has the following drawbacks:

  • The datasource configuration is loaded every time the Operational Dashboard is accessed, regardless of whether the Table Card is present.
  • As a result, authorization is granted to the Object Structures for all users, even when it is not required.

The idea is to have the ability to define and manage Table Card data sources definition directly from the Maximo UI, instead of requiring entries in the OPDASHBOARD common XML.

Thank you for entering this idea.
Ideally, when an operation dashboard is made public within the OpsD tab in the Security group application, that security group should have permissions to the related object structures, or it will cause errors for all users. I admit that there is no simple way to cross-check these relationships without manual testing.

There was recently a support case around BMX errors appearing due to data sources that are present in the app, but are not being used in a dashboard view. To me, that should be considered a defect. I am unable to find the case number, however.

The Work Queue builder is the best way to create a table card with a list of records from a query and attributes as columns. What are your requirements for a table card that can't be done with this method?

If there was a method to create a data source for the operational dashboard UI, what format would you be looking for? I am assuming a JSON code editor?
