Enhancement to Inbox/Assignment

Today, our product allows us to configure the Start Center to display Inbox/Assignments. By default, the Inbox portlet retrieves data from the WFASSIGNMENT table and displays it accordingly.

It is also possible to have multiple Inbox/Assignment portlets on the same Start Center. However, there is currently no way to control which assignments appear in each Inbox portlet. For example, users may want to display Inventory-related assignments in one Inbox and Work Management assignments in another. Additionally, there are limited sorting and filtering capabilities available. Displaying all assignment into one buries higher priority one down.

While this can be achieved by using a Result Set portlet, doing so removes the workflow routing functionality that is available through the standard Inbox/Assignment portlet.

If Start Centers are expected to remain a long-term part of the product alongside, or instead of, Dashboards, it would be beneficial to provide enhanced Inbox/Assignment configuration options. This would allow administrators to define assignment criteria, filtering, and sorting rules for individual Inbox portlets while retaining workflow routing capabilities.
