Re-introduce a system property to allow customer option to minimize the MAS vertical scrolling due to the vertical labeling only.

IOT18 had system property mxe.webclient.verticalLabels - Makes base leaf level controls use labels above (vertical instead of horizontal).

Compared demo 7.6.1.2 set to horizontal labeling to MAS 8 which has only vertical labeling.

In Work Order Tracking using IBM demo data on similar resolutions,

7.6.1.2 was scrolling down approximately 2.5 screens

MAS 8 was scrolling down approximately 4.5 screens

The increased scrolling may work well on iPads, etc. but office users (planners, schedulers, etc.) have large monitors to access WOT, PM, JP, Routes, etc.


The increased scrolling due to the vertical labeling only will not be well received.

    Thank you for taking the time to provide your ideas to IBM. We truly value our relationship with you and appreciate your willingness to share details about your experience, your recommendations, and ideas.

    In MAS, all modernized applications place their field labels on top. It is unlikely that this property would be enabled for the modernized applications. Enabling this property in base would create a inconsistent experience for all users when switching between older and newer applications. The design team also felt that it allows the creation of very busy/condensed screens that are straining on the eyes. However, we see the merit of this request, and it will be considered in the future, depending on the interest we see across the broader user base.

Bring back the ability to switch global labels from Vertical to Horizontal. As in 7.6
