Updating related records when linear asset lenght is changed

The linear asset could be connected to multiple records. For example, could be added on the Route, on the Preventive Maintenance, on the Work Orders ect. When the length of the linear asset (for example ENDMEASURE) is changed, the related record does not update automatically. Since the length on other records does not update, we will have in the system incorrect data.

For example, I have a dynamic Job Plan on the PM, which calculates labor hours based on asset length. If the length of the asset is changed and PM is not updated (like it works now), then the generated Work Order from this PM will not have the right calculation (which comes from Job Plan based on asset length) since the asset lengths on PM will still have the "old" asset length value.

The use cases of updating the linear assets we experience in utility companies where they in a daily manner change the length of the assets. For example, distribution system operators (DSO) are shortening the length of OHL (linear asset) and prolonging the cable lines (linear asset). These are two asset types that have different PM and JP assigned and the customer with more than one hundred (100+) changes in the grid daily, really has a lot of manual work to update all of the related record data connected with such assets.

Thank you for submitting this idea. It appears, unfortunately, that there is more to this idea than changing the lengths of linear assets - that appeears to be industry specific. The intent of linear assets was to represent the phycial centerline of the asset. It was not intended to represent a logical centerline, which it appears is your use case. I've reached out via e-mail. If you'd like to dicuss further - please let me know, and perhaps we can determine a path forward. Thanks again.
