We are seeing multiple functional issues and performance issues that manifest within the application when the device has a poor internet connection.
On testing it has been noted that the application performs better when the device is offline versus having a poor internet connection (generally 3G or 4G mobile broadband connections).
Given that the User requires their device to be online/connected for other activities including communications, emails and other business systems they do not have the ability to place the device in an offline state just so Maximo Mobile can provide a better experience.
THEREFORE, it would be beneficial if the user could manually toggle the application between and OFFLINE and ONLINE state. Doing so from the navigator app would make it available globally within the App.
When the application is placed in the ONLINE mode it would behave as it currently does.
When the application is placed in the OFFLINE mode it would then not attempt to make any communications with the configured server and instead queue all transactions and use local data as it does when there is no network connection available. It should remain in this state until manually changed by the user to ONLINE.

Curious to know if the device works for communication, why it doesn't work for Maximo Mobile?
As part of the review process, we strive to be transparent about our intentions with each enhancement suggestion. The offering team has carefully reviewed this idea and has decided that it does not fit into our current plans, so the idea will be closed. The current behavior of our mobile app is to always use data available locally and hence, connectivity is not considered when performing operations in the application. In the other hand, Mobile is checking on server availability to ensure that there are no transactions pending to be sent to the server, without the need of any user interaction to make it happen. The idea will be kept in IBM's ideas repository and may still be voted on. It might be reassessed or reopened for additional feedback in the future. We value your feedback and thank you for allowing us the privilege of partnering with you in developing our products.
I recommend IBM Development team to consider. My client is looking for this functionality in the upcoming release. Thanks.
