Prevent overlapping labor hours across multiple Work Orders in Manage and Mobile.

Currently, in Maximo standard, it is possible to assign the same labor resource to multiple Work Orders with overlapping time intervals. For example:

  • Labor MO01 worked on WO 15879 from 09:00 to 12:00 (3 hours).

  • Labor MO01 also worked on WO 15878 from 08:00 to 13:00 (5 hours).

This creates a situation where the same person appears to be working on two Work Orders simultaneously, which is not realistic. Out of the box, Maximo does not validate or restrict this behavior.

We have implemented a custom validation to prevent overlapping hours in our environment. Additionally, for Maximo Mobile, the behavior is the same as standard, so we also had to implement this validation there.

We propose that IBM consider standardizing this functionality by adding a validation to block overlapping labor hours across Work Orders.
