Allow Maximo Mobile users to save their preferred default sort field for each application so that the selected sort order persists across sessions and logins

Maximo Mobile applications such as My Schedule, Inventory Counting, and other list-based applications provide several sort options while enforcing a single system-defined default sort field. Although users can temporarily change the sort order during a session, the selection is reset when the user logs out or starts a new session.

During customer implementations, multiple clients requested the ability to define their own preferred default sort field. For example:

  • In Inventory Counting, the out-of-the-box default sort is Latest Due Date, while users prefer Last Count Date.
  • In My Schedule, technicians prefer records to be sorted by Target Start Date rather than the current default.

To achieve their desired view, users must manually change the sort option every time they access the application, creating unnecessary repetitive actions and impacting usability.

Proposed Enhancement:

  • Allow users to select a preferred default sort field from the available sort options.
  • Persist the selection at the user profile level.
  • Automatically apply the saved sort preference whenever the application is launched.
  • Optionally allow administrators to define organizational defaults while still permitting user-level overrides.

Benefits:

  • Improved technician productivity.
  • Better user experience and personalization.
  • Reduced repetitive actions during daily operations.
  • Greater alignment with customer-specific business processes.
