IBM Sustainability Software - Ideas Portal

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against the products and services belonging to IBM Sustainability Software. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Spatial dialog should automatically refresh after link/unlink actions

Problem Description

In the Work Order Tracking application, when an Asset in the Map is identified and then unlinked and re-linked, the attributes are not refreshed. Only the OBJECTID remains populated. A new Identify action is required to see the correct attributes.

This behavior differs from other dialogs in Maximo, where attributes are refreshed immediately after a change. Users reasonably expect the same consistent behavior here.

Reasoning

Consistency: All dialogs should behave in the same way. In other parts of Maximo, attribute data is refreshed automatically. Spatial should not be the exception.

User Experience: Requiring a new Identify action is not intuitive and forces additional manual steps.

Data Quality: Showing outdated or empty attributes can lead to confusion and wrong assumptions when managing Work Orders.

Operational Efficiency: Inconsistent behavior generates unnecessary support questions and slows down work execution.

Reproduction Steps

Open the Work Order Tracking application.

Go to the Map tab → Identify an Asset to show attributes (example: OBJECTID 32, WONUM WO100101, SITEID BEDFORD).

Press the Unlink button. > Message: "Selected GIS feature will be unlinked" → Continue.

Result: The feature is successfully unlinked.

Press the Link button. > Message: "The GIS feature was linked".

Result: The OBJECTID is set (e.g., 32) but other attributes are null.

Press the Link button again.

Now the attributes populate correctly (WONUM WO100101, SITEID BEDFORD).

Expected Result

After a link or unlink action, the Spatial dialog should automatically refresh and show the correct attributes, consistent with behavior in other Maximo dialogs.
