Support ArcGIS Arcade ValueExpression-based symbology rendering in Maximo Spatial and Maximo Mobile offline maps so that renderer definitions using Arcade expressions display consistently between online and offline map experiences.

Many ArcGIS implementations utilize Arcade ValueExpression-based renderers to determine feature symbology dynamically from multiple attributes and business rules. Currently, Maximo Spatial does not support Arcade-based symbology rendering, resulting in differences between online ArcGIS map rendering and the offline map experience in Maximo Mobile.

This enhancement would allow Maximo Spatial and Maximo Mobile Offline Maps to:

  • Interpret and render ArcGIS Arcade valueExpression renderer definitions.
  • Maintain visual consistency between online and offline map views.
  • Support modern ArcGIS rendering techniques without requiring GIS administrators to redesign their services specifically for Maximo.
  • Reduce the need for implementing workaround configurations such as:
    • Pre-calculated classification fields.
    • Additional renderer attributes.
    • Duplication of layers.
    • Creation of separate services solely to support Maximo consumption.
  • Improve compatibility with utility, gas, water, electric, telecommunications, and infrastructure GIS implementations where symbology is frequently derived from multiple feature attributes.

Expected behavior

When an ArcGIS layer uses a renderer based on an Arcade valueExpression, Maximo Spatial and Maximo Mobile should evaluate the expression (or consume the renderer output from the service) and display the same symbology in both online and offline modes.

Beneficiaries

  • Existing Maximo Spatial customers using ArcGIS Enterprise.
  • GIS administrators maintaining utility network and infrastructure layers.
  • Mobile technicians relying on accurate offline mapping.
  • Organizations with advanced ArcGIS symbology implementations.
