Make User Profile "Picture" editable

Every user gets a profile "picture", consisting of the first letters of the displayname. Every user can see this if he clicks on his profile.


We activated LDAP-Sync (no other way with >3k users that consistently change) so we have no control over the data that is written to the user.

This works fine if you have simple name constructs like:

  • Bertine Thorn (will be shown as "BT")

  • Christel Scheerer (will be shown as "CS")

But for some users that work as consultants here, there is some additional information in the displayname indicating that they are external:

  • Isa Hintz (ext. MA) (will be shown as "IH(M")

  • Rolf Grosshennig (ext. MA) (will be shown as "RG(M")

This a) ugly and b) doesn't fit completely into the circle.


So please give us a possibility to define better rules for that naming.

    Thank you for opening the idea. We are going to mark this as a defect, and ensure that the profile only uses the first character (From first and last name). However, we will not make the profile image manually editable.
