PO Revisions with PENDOBS items

Material Planning Team may place an Item in PENDOBS after the initial PO is sent out.  Procurement may need to do a price change or make a change to Line 5 of a multi-line PO and PO Line 1 is now in PENDOBS.  Procurement is unable to process the PO Revision unless Line 1 Item is made Active again, po revision processed and then the Line Item can be made PENDOBS again.  This is a very manual work around and in addition there is a possibility of a reorder while item remains ACTIVE.  There are additional issues associated with PENDOBS Items such as:

  • Storeroom cannot receive a PENDOBS item on a OPEN PO (Confirm)
  • Designs can’t be accepted with PENDOBS items which means PENDOBS Items in inventory can’t be processed into reservations

    Thank you for submitting the idea to the portal! Could you let us know what the requested enhancement to the PENDOBS attribute would entail? Would it be to not be able to set an item to PENDOBS while it's still on an APPROVED PO at the time of the change? The goal of the PENDOBS status is indeed that the item can still be used up from Inventory but cannot be ordered anymore, so that it could be set to OBSOLETE in the future.
