SFPUC proposes the addition of a "Lock layer settings" check-box in the footer of the Layers dialog to lock layer settings. When this box is un-checked, a user is able to make any changes they wish to their layer settings (the current normal state of the Layers dialog). When this box is checked, however, no changes are permitted to layer settings. We believe this would greatly reduce the likelihood of accidental changes to layer settings (e.g., making all layers selectable), which is currently far too easy.
When a user wants to change layer settings, they would simply un-check the box, make the changes, then re-check the box.

Thank you for the suggestion regarding adding a "Lock layer settings" checkbox in the footer of the Layers dialog. We understand the intent behind this feature to minimize accidental changes to layer settings, especially for scenarios like making all layers selectable.
Currently, the system saves layer selections on a per-user basis, meaning that changes to layer settings made by one user do not impact the system as a whole or other user. This design ensures flexibility and avoids unintended system-wide consequences of individual actions.
While the proposed feature could enhance user control over their settings, it would be important to carefully evaluate the implementation to ensure it aligns with the existing user-based configuration logic. We will review this idea further, considering its potential to improve the user experience while maintaining system integrity.
Thank you again for your valuable feedback!
