Preload Database Should be Able to Be Disabled on Certain Lookup Datasources

Some lookup datasources (labor related lookups & potentially inventory related lookups) will be dynamic based on each user's security access. Labor has controls for only allowing you to see your labor, labor who reports to you, labor that's part of your crew, etc. For the preload database to work, the preload user has to be able to see all the labor records which means that each of the users using that preload database can see all of the labor records. If the preload user can't see the labor records, users can't report their own labor.

While Maximo will throw an error during submission if the user can't utilize that labor record, it'd be better to not show labor records they can't utilize. It's too difficult to implement all the labor logic on the device so it seems like these lookup datasources should have an optional attribute to say that they shouldn't be included in preload databases. When it's not included in the preload database, then on login we should utilize the REST API to retrieve that lookup data instead. That way we can get advantage of the preload database on most datasources (asset, location, etc.) while providing the granular security where necessary. And by having it configurable on the datasource, organizations can control which approach to use.

Hello, I strongly support this idea. We are having the same challenges in our system.

Preloaded database is our only option.

If we try to log in without a preload database we get a timeout error (we have timeout 500000 ms).

In our case the amount of records is approximately:

    1. 90000 items in inventory

    2. 20000 locations

We also have restrictions based on each security access. Those are mainly related to labor and synonymdomains.

Unfortunately due to this user-based restrictions we would need to create as many preloaded databases as user cases we have. E.g: 15 preloaded databases for 1 site.

    Best regards,
