Regardless of where you are searching you get the same results on Web, Mobile.

On the mobile device, the input search string is considered to be exact, which is different than what is done in the role-based application. Toyota is requesting this behavior to be consistent with role-based application.

More details specific to our story:
As a Maximo Mobile User, I need the Asset search to search the following 3 fields (ASSET.ASSETNMUM / ASSET.DESCRIPTION / ASSET.LOCATION) as these are the Primary Searched Fields used in the Maximo UI.  Currently the Asset Search displays ASSET.ASSETNMUM / ASSET.DESCRIPTION / and LOCATIONS.DESCRIPTION

Acceptance Criteria

Log into Maximo with a User role that has security role MOBILETECH or MOBILESUP.

Open any work order in the Edit Work Order screen and Navigate to the Asset Field

Open the Search Option and you should see the following options to search by (ASSET.ASSETNMUM / ASSET.DESCRIPTION / ASSET.LOCATION)

Enter a value to search for that is in the ASSET.ASSETNMUM and verify the results.

Enter a value to search for that is in the ASSET.DESCRIPTION and verify the results.

Enter a value to search for that is in the ASSET.LOCATION and verify the results.

Create a new work order and Navigate to the Asset Field

Open the Search Option and you should see the following options to search by (ASSET.ASSETNMUM / ASSET.DESCRIPTION / ASSET.LOCATION)

Enter a value to search for that is in the ASSET.ASSETNMUM and verify the results.

Enter a value to search for that is in the ASSET.DESCRIPTION and verify the results.

Enter a value to search for that is in the ASSET.LOCATION and verify the results.

As part of the review process, we strive to be transparent about our intentions with each enhancement suggestion. The offering team has carefully reviewed this idea and has decided that it does not fit into our current plans, so the idea will be closed. After investigating, there are technical limitations to achieve the same result. While you have a full server and database available in the RBA, Mobile uses a different platform with a subset of the capabilities to filter and sort data that is in the device. The latest 8.11 release introduces filtering which will give you the ability to determine which attribute will be used in the search. We will continue to enhance search/filter/sorting capabilities in mobile, but it's unlikely we'll get it to the point where it will be the same as the server side RBA app. The idea will be kept in IBM's ideas repository and may still be voted on. It might be reassessed or reopened for additional feedback in the future. We value your feedback and thank you for allowing us the privilege of partnering with you in developing our products.
