In our testing, offline testing works if you are online or completely offline. What fails is poor wifi/cell service areas. The app does not go into offline mode and continues to try to function as if the application is in a healthy network situation. This is a HIGH impact to our current users. They complain about the UX applications and are stating that it is unusable.
This request is to add additional service worker messages to allow the Perceptive UX Work Task and Work Task Services applications to switched to Offline Mode by the user. When the user know they are going to travel to a poor wifi/cell service area they can opt-in to force the application to go into offline mode.
We have a prototype working and the level of effort is not high. It includes adding a "forceOffline" and "triOnline" message to be added to the service worker (sw.js). The messages should update a service worker variable that is considered in the logic the current service worker uses to determin it is offline. Other enhancements are welcome to make this better.
*An additional change would be to detect poor wifi/cell service situation and go offline earlier. One idea, that is untested, is to continually monitor the TRIRIGA server's response times performing a small data fetch (like current user) and calculate the response time.

Offline mode is not usable in areas where the connection goes in and out. It would work much better if it could be forced into offline mode.
