Bookings for private rooms that have a configured “Resource Owner” should just be approved by the Resource Owner list.

Good morning,

Following an incident with our client and several meetings with the product team, we have identified a minor malfunction in the application that we would like to propose for review in future releases.

This issue affects the reservations module, specifically bookings for private rooms that have a configured “Resource Owner”.

According to the intended logic, these bookings should only be approved by the corresponding Resource Owner.

However, in practice, any manager with permissions on the triResourceEvent object can approve or reject the reservation, regardless of whether they are the Resource Owner or not.

We believe this should function similarly to the triApproval module, where any manager with the appropriate permissions can approve or reject a record, but if they are not part of the approver list, the system displays an error message and does not allow the action.

In the case of the triResourceEvent object, there is no validation against the list of Resource Owners for the room, so any manager with access to the form (for example, through a report) is currently able to approve or reject the reservation.

This behavior has been confirmed by the IBM product team after testing in an OOTB environment.

Kind regards,
