This portal is to open public enhancement requests against the products and services belonging to IBM Sustainability Software. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

According to UML specification (2.5.1) interactions can have formal gates (Figure_17.1_UMLSpecification.png). They would allow messages from and to the diagram frame, see Figure_17.4_UmlSpecification.png and Figure_17.14_UmlSpecification.png. The latter one also shows to which dedicated lifeline this message is sent, i.e. who is called in the subsequence. According to 17.7.3.1 (Chapter_17.7.3.1_UmlSpecification.png) it shall be possible to put gates to interaction uses (refs), do sent signals with parameters to specific lifelines in those (sub-)sequencs. Also according to 17.7.4.1 Interaction use, input and output parameters are defined for ref-combined fragments. All this is currently seems currently not really possible, but really urgently needed to unambiguously define, how sub-sequences will be called and which parameters will be provided or sent back to/from which lifeline.
Can we have the feature of formal gates on sequence diagrams as per UML standard.
