DNG shall ensure that a module and artefacts inside the module do not have the same Artefact Type, as otherwise data cannot be exported via DNG ReqIF Export

Description

When a user tries create / change / etc. data so that a module and an artefact inside the same module have the same Artefact Type, DNG shall...

  • Option 1: Prevent the user from doing so via a clear and understandable error message that describes the reasons for why this is not allowed (data can no longer be exported via DNG ReqIF Export).

  • Option 2: Warn the user / ask for confirmation via a clear and understandable warning message that describes the reasons for why this is not recommended (data can no longer be exported via DNG ReqIF Export).

One of the two options shall be implemented. Option 1 is preferred.

Motivation / Reason

It is currently possible in DNG that a module and an artefact inside the same module both have the same Artefact Type.
If this is the case, the module (and the artefact contained in the module) can not be exported via DNG ReqIF Export.
The error message in the export summary is: "Rejected: Exported file failed ReqIF schema validation. Please refer to the report for details."
The error message in the export log is: "Export failed due to a violation of the ReqIF specification - modules and artifacts cannot use the same type. Please assure the following artifacts do not share types with any modules before exporting:..."

The ability to assign the same Artefact Type to a module and an artefact inside the module is explicitly allowed in DNG, the user is not prevented from doing so in any way / not informed about the consequences in any way.
The user is not made aware of this limitation before attempting to export the data.
The user may have spent considerable effort creating the data before attempting to export the data, and would then have to manually change the data (i.e. manually change Artefact Types so that modules and artefacts do not have the same Artefact Types) to be able to export the data. It may also not be possible to change the data in such a way.

Furthermore, data in which a module and an artefact inside the same module both have the same Artefact Type is permitted / "legal" data in DNG.
DNG ReqIF Export shall be able to export all permitted / "legal" data in DNG, not just a subset of data.
If a certain type of data cannot be exported via DNG ReqIF Export (i.e. module and artefact inside same module that both have same Artefact Type), then...

  • Either that type of data shall not be permitted / "legal" data in DNG (This is what this RFE is requesting)

  • Or DNG ReqIF Export shall be able to export the data (likely not technically possible)
