RRDG (RPE) Queue Management Much Better than Current Solution of SERVER RESTART

At present , the number of RPE reports that may be generated by RRDG in DNG is limited by a setting , increasing this count inhibits performance and decreasing this count leads to users being unable to generate documents as all requests are queued, this just leads to an enormous queue with people waiting for hours with no end in sight.

During a release, multiple teams generate specs using RRDG, and each team generates around 100 specs each. The current product implementation just leads to a queue which is  "First Come, First served",  and that is certainly not the most efficient method for managing the queue. What if the business users need a small document to be generated first, the others can follow later, this cannot happen today. The only option in this case, is a RM SERVER RESTART which leads to all business users being impacted, and then making sure that none of the other 5000 users start an RRDG request before you get the other one done.

There must be a better way , if RRDG had queue management capability, we could rearrange the requests, kill requests , and at least ensure that there is no SERVER Downtime during business hours,  to process a document that just has a few hundred artifacts.

As part of the review process, we strive to be transparent about our intentions with each enhancement suggestion. The IBM Engineering team has carefully reviewed this idea, and based on our understanding, this is not Engineering Document Generation (EDG), formerly RRDG direction. EDG is meant for casual usage, not for heavy document generation as it is a resource-intensive scenario and it could impact DOORS Next performance. Therefore, instead of using EDG, your organization should use PUB Document Generation which already poses the capabilities requested in this idea.
Although we are closing this request, it will be kept in IBM's ideas repository.  We value your feedback and thank you for allowing us to partner with you in developing our products.
