Maximo Mobile - Introduce System Property to Control Delta Download After Preloaded DB Download

Description:

Currently, with the "supporting data" toggle ON and "delta" toggle OFF (to download new preloaded db, if available), after the preloaded database (DB) is downloaded to the mobile device, the system automatically initiates a delta download to synchronize any changes made since the last update. However, this behavior can lead to performance issues in scenarios where customers perform large-scale bulk updates (e.g., tens of thousands of updates to assets or locations) during business hours or just before the preloaded DB cron task runs.

In such cases, all these bulk updates qualify as part of the delta download, significantly increasing data transfer time and impacting mobile performance. This can result in delays for field technicians and negatively affect user experience.

Proposed Solution:

Introduce a system property that allows customers to configure whether the delta download should occur immediately after the preloaded DB download. Or, strictly download the delta if the "delta" toggle is ON.

Property Name (suggested): mxe.mobile.deltaDownload.enabled

Type: Boolean (true/false)

Default Value: true (to maintain current behavior)

Functionality:

If true: Delta download occurs after preloaded DB download (current behavior).

If false: Delta download is skipped, and can be downloaded after a newer preloaded db is generated after the next cron job run.

Benefits:

Performance Optimization: improves download times and errors.

Flexibility: Gives customers control over synchronization strategy based on their operational needs.

Improved User Experience: Minimizes delays for mobile users during critical business hours
