SLI count stopped. Develop a mechanism to notify the user if the data is flowing or not.

We really can not determine if the data is flowing or not. It may happen because of number of reasons:

  • We newer know if the user intentionally stopped the data flow or not
  • If the device is sending data or not
  • Openshift kluster is down
  • Database is down

Usually, batch pipeline is a background job and it analyzes the data and gives feedback on it. I agree this isn't very clear. Currently, we have an anomaly detection mechanism to determine if you have incoming data or not. Other than that we don't have a mechanism to determine if we are getting a data or not.

Development Observations on Support case:

Some points to note:

1) When there is no data batch metric function wont run (V1 pipeline)

2) We cant set the value to zero because we are not aware of the reason behind why there is no data. In the screenshot you see a gap and then next time pipeline ran it calculated the count and in the UI the line chart basically link between last calculated point to newly calculated point.
