Event-based alerts (eg. bushfires and floods) are important in business use cases in terms of customer engagement, risk mitigation and resource planning etc, but we don't have that in our EIS Weather Alerts 2.0 for Australia region (although our alert catalogue includes government met agencies' event-based alerts from US, Canada and Europe). Australia Bureau of Meteorology (ABOM) does provide event-based alerts in Australia, their alerts should also be added into our EIS Weather Alert catalogue!
Imagine if we have ABOM alerts, complemented by our proprietary state-of-the-art threshold-based alerts, and the Geospatial Foundation Models inference (fueled by Watsonx) potentially added into the mix in the near future, we would become one of the best (if not the best) weather alert solution providers in Australia. We have all the technology at IBM to make it happen. But at the moment, ABOM alerts is the biggest gap!
The potential car and home insurances in Australia we can talk to are as below, some of them already have weather alerts service providers, the potential market size for weather alerts are in the magnitude of USD 5-10 million, on the conservative side. Apart from insurance industry, our EIS Weather Alerts can also benefit government agencies such as State Emergency Services, NSW Rural Fire Service, Vic Country Fire Authority or even Federal Government (Services Australia).

Our premium threshold-based alerts can complement ABOM's alerts to provide a complete weather alert solution for insurance and government sectors in Australia.
