Separate FERA emissions into component parts (WTT, T&D, WTT of T&D)

See this idea on ideas.ibm.com

It is currently not possible in Envizi to view the emissions of the component parts of FERA; they are calculated and reported together as the 'indirect' emissions of scope 1 and 2.

This is an issue for several reasons:

  • The latest version of the SBTi submission form requires organisations to report these activities separately;
  • It is difficult to verify/audit calculations without seeing the individual calculations for each component part of FERA;
  • As emission factors change over time (e.g. the major shift in indirect IEA factors this year), it is currently very difficult to see what is causing the change;
  • Large electricity consumers may have decarbonisation strategies that include addressing T&D losses - it is not possible to track this using the current approach.

Envizi should split out the component parts of FERA emissions and report them as separate fields in the monthly data set. Ideally, these would also be split out within the monthly data summary.
