Expand Maximo Mobile 'user profile time zone' configuration so users can select 'mobile device time zone'.

Maximo Enterprise allows users to set 'user profile time' from a list of available time zones. This 'user profile time' is then inherited in Maximo Mobile.

This is a problem where field technicians work at sites outside of their normal time zone – transaction date/time stamps are tied to their user profile time which is now different to the mobile device time and the local time at the work site. If the field technician forgets to change time zone in Maximo Enterprise, the timestamp recorded in Maximo Mobile will be incorrect. Also, many timestamp values in Maximo Mobile are recorded without the User directly inputting a value. Transactions such as Meter Readings capture the timestamp in the background, using the date/time at point of transaction generation, and as it stands these are always subject to the Users Profile setting, which may not reflect the correct time at the location of work. Consider also that Maximo Mobile doesn't currently allow Users to change their Profile Time Zone on the app. They must use the web version.

Proposed solution is that there is an option in the 'user profile time zone' configuration so users can select 'mobile device time zone'. In this case, 'mobile device time zone' will be used for all transaction date/time stamps.

    Hello Adam,

The timezone information from the device will be important on this one. One possible solution is to verify if the device timezone differs from what is configured in the server and then warn the user about this. It can also allow the user to change the one from the server to match what is currently in the device.

For now, one existing option is to clear the timezone information from the user profile that is on the server. Without this info coming from the server the app or browser will use the timezone from the mobile device or from the browser that is being used. Does this work for you?

    Thank you!
