Generate Error Rather Than Warning for Meter Exceeding Daily Allowance

Out of box, Maximo presents a warning to users if a meter reading is entered that exceeds daily allowance. User can choose to change the reading or continue with it as entered, entering a high value. In the Transportation Industry, the ability to enter a reading that exceeds the daily reading exceedance warning must be approved by management as it affects asset usage, preventive maintenance, and other factors that are difficult to correct if a user entered an incorrect value. Further, if the daily usage is too high for multiple times, the asset likely should be moved to a new location or for a different operational activity to extend the operational life. Therefore, it is important that the meter reading be entered correctly and/or it be difficult to enter an incorrect reading. The recommendation is that either:

  1. The message be configurable as an error message that prevents users from entering the value

OR

2. If a meter is designated as having a daily allowance, a warning would be displayed and if the reading entered exceeds the daily value, the reading must be approved prior to posting formally against the asset. (A pending reading that requires Supervisor/Manager approval)

    This idea is currently under consideration for a future release, so it is accepted but will not be delivered within the next 12-18 months. There will be an epic created for it and it will be added to the unprioritized backlog for review. Priority is based on customer need (number of unique customer votes), business/functional need (critical/regulatory change vs nice to have) as well as market need (emerging technology/philosophy).
