Automated solution for fixing duplicate GUIDs


Here is part of their request:

For several projects, we encountered this issue: when opening Rhapsody project, an error is given about duplicated GUIDs. Until now we tried to fix this by manually updating the duplicate GUIDs. But this is not feasible nor accepted by project teams.

We, Rhapsody support, have had numerous cases where a client has reported receiving messages with regards to duplicate GUID's and we try to help resolve the issue, but never reported a defect. There is one answer as to why this occurs; there can be any number of causes.


I do believe, even if we cannot prevent duplicate GUID's, provided a manner in which to resolve this issue automatically would resolve many issues that get reported by the rhapsody community.
