Ability to setup District Heating / District Cooling Meters

By definition, we're unable to setup meters with 'Type' District Heating and/or District Cooling.

We've initially raised an issue on the IBM Support channel (TS015388130) to ask how to set these meter up, with the following Problem Statement

"We need to setup meters that are measured in KwH, but that are not electricity meters, but district cooling and district heating.

How can you setup each type on Envizi?

On the Meter Settings, we have some options, but I'm not sure how to setup all of them.

Waiting for your reply,

"

We’ve received the following reply, that we’ve implemented as it presented itself as a reasonable work-around.

“The meter dashboards and reports are tied to the meter component used to load the data. While there is a way to set an alternate data type, it is primarily used for solar meters. Unfortunately, we do not have district cooling and heating (Scope 2) as alternate data types.

Since ISS is using the SBS connector, you can select the SBS Thermal meter component. Then, you could use tags to differentiate between district heating and district cooling meters.”

After we've implemented this, we’re now encountering issues with reporting, as some standard reports (R1244) is now removing features related to Thermal Meters, as conveyed on a currently open issue raised by us (TS017129169).

The overarching aspect to us is that we should be able to treat District Heating / District Cooling meters as a meter component in its own right, like electricity, gas or water.

This is an essential feature for some of our current customers and being asked for in some POC bidding processes as well.

So we would like to have that change implemented on the system, and also available for use in the current connectors available (SBS, EasyiO, etc...).

If not, we would lose the ability to upload interval meter data for them, as we would be creating an ‘unreadable’ meter component on our current connector upload environment.

Waiting for your feedback.

Thank you for raising this enhancement request.

We have created the following components (currently enabled on request but will be shortly made available to all users).

    • SBS District Heating - kWh

    • SBS District Cooling - kWh

To use these components, please use the Data Type "Thermal" when loading files. Please note that to report emissions with these meters, you should set up custom factors for the relevant data types.
