This portal is to open public enhancement requests against the products and services belonging to IBM Sustainability Software. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

When an Envizi ESPM sync creates new accounts in ESPM (ESPM meters), the target name includes a lot of extraneous information not in the Envizi Item Number/Account Number.
ESPM has a character limit of sixty for meter names, resulting in critical information being lost. For example, an Account Number in Envizi might have this format.
(5-digit location code) - (utility name) - (meter name) - (account reference)
Envizi allows account names up to 100 characters, so there is already a chance that the counterpart created in ESPM might be truncated. However, even if the Account Number is 60 characters or less, the greater issue is that Envizi adds the organization name and the account style to the ESPM meter name, neither of which are necessary. The end result is a meter name in this format.
(org name) - (account style),(5-digit location code) - (utility name) - (meter name) - (account reference)
Due to character truncation, the meter number and account reference are entirely left out. By contrast, the included information, such as the org name and account style, are redundant and unnecessary.
The reason this is a serious issue for us is that it makes it very difficult to locate specific data in ESPM at a later time, as multiple meters may look the same. Auditing, in particular, could potentially be very time consuming.
I would like to make two recommendations to improve this situation.
1. Do not include (org name) - (account style) in the newly created ESPM meter name. This information is redundant and unnecessary.
2. Parse out and extract the (meter name) component of the Envizi Account Number, as is done with some data connectors. This should eliminate the risk of exceeding the ESPM character limit, in most circumstances.

Thanks for raising the enhancement request.
We will be looking into this and potentially to introduce a configuration option to allow the selection of only account number in Envizi to be synced to ESPM as the meter name in ESPM. This shall largely reduce the possibility of character truncation as posed by ESPM.
