Maximo Manage - Attachment and Log properties related to S3 should use credentials defined in ObjectStorageCfg at suite level or have consistency of S3 usage across Apps and adhere to use Secret instead of sensitive properties at CR level

How Maximo Visual Inspection uses ObjectStorageCfg

Maximo Visual Inspection lets user defining bucket name and leaves the responsibility of defining access key, secret key, endpoint to ObjectStorageCfg

objectStorageBucketNames:

myWorkSpace: mvi-inspection-bucket

https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/mas-cd/maximo-vi/continuous-delivery?topic=storage-enabling-object

How Maximo Manage requires defining S3 configuration for Logging

On the other hand, Maximo Manage requires its own configuration of defining access key, secret key, endpoint for Logging in Workspace CR

https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/mas-cd/maximo-vi/continuous-delivery?topic=storage-enabling-object

How Maximo Manage requires defining S3 configuration for Attachment

mxe.cosaccesskey, mxe.cossecretkey , mxe.cosendpointuri requires defining in Workspace CR

https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/mas-cd/maximo-manage/continuous-delivery?topic=properties-attachment-s3

Secret storage

From the security standpoint - access key, secret key are considered secret and MUST only be kept in Secret Manager and NEVER Be a part of CR

Secret Rotation

Anything secret used in automation needs to be rotated on schedule as per compliance requirements or rotated on demand in emergency situation.

Conslidation of S3 usage across apps

Moreover, there is a need to consolidate how different Apps implement S3 configuration to have consistent usage to avoid administrative overhead.

Dedicated AWS account for Logs

I have also seen a recommendation where customers keep dedicated AWS account to keep Logs so logs are immutable, compliance reasons with access to limited people.
