Support modern authentication methodologies apart from basic authentication

OAuth 2.0 as a modern authentication mechanism has to be available throughout the ELM platform in order to enable integration with different corporate systems in a secure manner. There should not be any limitations depending on whether we face SSO or non-SSO or browser or backend scenarios. OAuth 2.0 is the only way of authentication that can be accepted on the long run because it is the standard authentication mechanism used by the majority of applications and compliant to IT Security unlike basic authentication and OAuth1.0a.

Thank you for submitting this RFE. It appears you are requesting that we support OAuth 2.0 for ELM authentication. ELM currently supports OIDC which is a popular authentication standard for identify providers, and it is an extension of OAuth 2.0. This is supported through the Jazz Authentication Server component of ELM.

Due to the popularity of OIDC, its reliance on OAuth 2.0, and the level of services and security it provides, we do not anticipate providing separate or additional OAuth protocol support at this time. For that reason the RFE is being declined.

However, if there are specific authentication or authorization features that would be valuable to you, we encourage you to submit RFEs for those items.

    Thank you.
