This portal is to open public enhancement requests against the products and services belonging to IBM Sustainability Software. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Multi Site user bases can sometimes be brought closer to their DOORS server by using Terminal Server or Citrix. In some cases connections may be even unsuitable for those approaches (latency, HOPS). Since it is increasingly not the case, that people working at one site all work on the same project / data / role / job, a DOORS server has to accomodate users from around the globe and offer acceptable / workable performance. We propose to introduce multi-site replication, possibly by re-purposing the old partitions feature. Replication doesn't need to be real time, with the right locking in place. But it mustn't be a manual effort of splitting the data, copying it, merging it. The application suite should provide this.

Just a note working with Citrix Terminalserver from world-wide users connecting to our DOORS databases located in Germany: It is sometimes a pain for the users as the latency (i.e.) from Australia, US, etc.) is really high and bandwith is also limited.
So as IT-complexity growth and network seems to be slower and slower over the time, the DOORS application must provide a (i.e.) caching/synchronizing feature for remote sites with limited network-performance.
Maybe as a very rough idea, a (user/computer) local DOORS-DB hosting a partitioned Module or section of a Module, which can be synchronized by the user.
Setup and maintenance maybe proceed by users who have admin-access rights to that Module/Folder/Project.
Maintaining and synchronizing must be processed by the user itself or automatically whilst opening/closing the Module.
I think, this can be be a very powerful and unique feature for the DOORS application which helps a lot of customers/clients.
