Anywhere 7.6.4 - Force Refresh of System Data

In Anywhere 7.6.4 once a device downloads system data it is not updated unless the user manually triggers a refresh. To do this refresh the user must log into Anywhere, go to Settings, select the three dots sub menu, and select Refresh System Data.

In the user case where a value is added to a domain that is considered system data each user must follow the steps to refresh their system data. An example of this is adding a new work order status to the system. Once the status is added to Maximo it will not sync to the Anywhere devices until each user refreshes their system data. As an administrator there are no controls available to prompt or force users to get this new status.

In previous version of Anywhere system data was downloaded every time a user logged in. This could cause some delay in login and I appreciate the improved login times that this change brought. However never forcing the users to update their system data is an extreme shift in the other direction.

This idea is to allow administrators a way to help user keep updated system data. I think this could be done in a few different ways but I would purpose that system data be refreshed each time a new deploy of an application is deployed. The users would already be downloading an over the air update of the application and adding the download of system data during this process would naturally follow. This would also be something that administrators could trigger for all user easily.

Thank you for your feedback and ideas. Unfortunately, after evaluating this idea for Anywhere, we don’t believe it aligns with our product roadmap strategy and therefore will not be considering it further. Although this item is already being considered for Maximo Mobile.

Thank you again for your feedback.
