Update existing template with the modified template.

The Publishing Document Builder cannot update the existing template with a new template that modifies the external variable. This limitation causes a lot of manual work time because we need to update each report with the new template.


If we could update the existing template with the modified file, it would save a lot of manual work time by eliminating the need to exchange the current template in each report for the new one.

    We still cannot update an existing template in the PUB Document Builder by following your instructions.

    As part of the review process, we strive to be transparent about our intentions with each enhancement suggestion. The IBM Engineering team has carefully reviewed this idea, and requested additional information to confirm that this is an existing functionality. To date, no additional information received and based on our understanding, idea is already implemented. Although we are closing this request, it will be kept in IBM's ideas repository.  We value your feedback and thank you for allowing us to partner with you in developing our products.

    Thank you for submitting idea. IBM Engineering team review board evaluated this request and determined your idea description is not correct. Once you modify Publishing (PUB) template, you can update existing template saved in the PUB Document Builder using following steps:
    * As a PUB Document Builder designer or administrator go to the Resources tab and identify template to update
    * Click on the Edit icon for template in question
    * 'Update template' window will open up and you are allowed to choose updated template
    * You can make any other updates but keep template name
    * Click on the Update button
    * Rerun report with this template to generate new document. You will be able to generate new document without changing association to the template.

    Please let us know if these steps worked for you.
