Need functionality to schedule resources on different shifts in different timeframes

e.g., plant outage 6 months away needs 12 hour shifts for its 30 day duration but whatever shift you add to the Labor record impacts not only the outage timeframe but the current work.

Need the capability to have date ranges for shifts on the labor record. There are work arounds to use Modified Availability to modify working hours using Non Working Time and Extra Working time, but that is a lot of math to subtract and then add and not easy. Also, Optimization would not work using this method since it is matching shifts.

    Pedro,

    * In our case we are talking about resources directly (Labor, Crew)
    * Yes, enable bucket actions that you can say, for Labor1, Labor2, Crew1, and Crew2 I need them on the period of Start and End time work not 8 hours but 12 hours with certain Start and End dates
    * E.g., perhaps Labor1 has a default shift with a child table that would allow entry of different exception shifts along with start and end dates for each entry.
    * In our case values consumed by Scheduling and Assignment. We do not use Dispatch but that seems correct.

    Regards,

    Orin

Hi @Orin, thanks a lot for your idea, Lacey and I was talking a bit about this area, and with that, I would like to confirm some points:

    • We are talking about a Resource directly (Labor, Crew) or we are looking around the Craft o Crew Type level?

    • If I understand that for the Resource directly we could work to enable bucket actions that you can say, for Labor1, Labor2, Crew1, and Crew2 I need them on the period of Start and End time work not 8 hours but 12 hours with certain Start and End dates.

    • And for sure those values need to be consumed in Scheduling, Assignment, and Dispatch.

For sure we can use the existing concept at Modify Availability but we can build something that is still integrated and get the modify the resources on different shifts in different timeframes. Please let me know our concepts around it and we can explore more.
